Researcher 3 Nat Phys Science

A researcher 3 position is available in a laboratory devoted to biochemical and molecular studies of the mammalian retina in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Houston. The lab employs molecular, cellular, electrophysiological and biochemical approaches to investigate the mechanism of photoreceptor cell death and the application of gene therapy in mice expressing mutant forms of photoreceptor-specific genes that are equivalent to human variants. To work under the directions of the PIs of the lab to perform experiments and provide data to PIs.

  1. Reviews progress and evaluates results of experiments under control or supervisory responsibility.
  2. Recommends changes in testing or experimental procedures.
  3. May be responsible for a single highly technical and complex piece of research equipment or project.
  4. Receives general supervision conferring with higher levels only in unusual situations.
  5. May plan for and assign personnel to projects under control.
  6. May review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel.
  7. Operates with latitude for unreviewed action.

MQ: Master's Degree with 3 years experience.
Master’s Degree in biochemistry or cell biology with 3-year experience. Prior experience in molecular biology is preferred.

Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
