Biomedical Engineering External Advisory Board

Established in 2025, the External Advisory Board (EAB) of the University of Houston Department of Biomedical Engineering serves as a strategic partner in advancing the Department’s mission in education, research, innovation, and translational impact. Modeled after leading advisory bodies across top engineering and medical schools, the EAB provides high-level guidance, external perspective, and critical evaluation to ensure that UH BME continues to grow as a nationally and internationally recognized hub for biomedical discovery and technology development.

The EAB advises the Department Chair and leadership team on program priorities, strategic planning, emerging research opportunities, academic and workforce needs, and the evolving landscape of biomedical engineering. The Board fosters strong connections with industry, clinical institutions, government agencies, venture/startup ecosystems, and peer academic departments — helping promote the Department’s interests within the broader Houston biomedical corridor and beyond.

Membership on the External Advisory Board is by invitation and composed of distinguished leaders across academia, medicine, biotechnology, medical devices, translational research, and entrepreneurial sectors. Members provide expert insight, assist in resource development, support program growth, and help position UH BME as a leader in training the next generation of engineers, scientists, and innovators.
